Andy & Heather Hacker- The Hacker Duet at Germanfest 2011

The Hacker Duet are the newest members of the Polka Parade broadcast team. Assigned to the Heimatecho German segment of Polka Parade Andy & Heather Hacker, bring a authentic Old World charm to Heimatecho. As participants to many Southeastern Wisconsin German related events, Andi & Heather project a youthful exhuberance and show that young people can be involved in promoting their culture through the music of their ancestors.

Andy is a graduate of Carroll University with a major in music education. Andy, from a very young age, was enthralled with the Blaskapelle style of German volksmusik. A gifted wind instrumentalist, Andy came to admire and highly respect the musical accomplishments of Ernie Broeniman's Dorf Kapelle Band, so much so, that he wanted to form a Blaskapelle of his own. Thus the Blaskapelle Milwaukee was formed. The Blaskapelle Milwaukee consists of 18 highly talented young musicians from Wisconsin and Illinois. Many of the band members are college students.

Heather is currently a college student at Carroll University studying sports nutrition and exercise science. Heather continues the musical tradition of her ancestors by playing multiple wind instruments and by often performing as a singer with the Blaskapelle Milwaukee, with her aunt Peggy Mueller or as a member of United Donauschwaben of Milwaukee Youth Group member. A gifted dancer, Heather also represented the United German Societies of Milwaukee as Miss Münchner Kindl (Queen of Oktoberfest)for 2009-2010.
